Now it's something else

Just when my kids have fully recovered, mummy here developed a terrible back pain. It hurts even to sneeze! Saw a physiotherapist yesterday and he helped ease the pain a little but today it feels like it's almost as bad as before. Physio says it's my jewelry making that caused it. Well, Looks like I have to see him again soon. Anyway, thank God that the exercises he taught me help to give momentary relief. Between the kids recovery and the back pain, I managed to work on a few pieces. I don't have the energy to set up my camera to take a proper shot so I quickly took a photo with my handphone before the I feel immobilized by the pain again. I quite like the irregular baroque freshwater pearls on the bracelet - don't you think it's rather organic?

Post Pneumonia

It's been more than 10 days since I posted on my blog! How time flies when you are busy tending to a sick kid down with mycoplasma pneumonia. I felt like a nurse the past 2 weeks medicating my son 7 times a day. Am so thankful that he's fine now. Lungs all clear! I managed to steal some time today to take photos of a couple of necklaces I did and my friend LF's beautiful handmade earrings. Aren't they lovely, dainty and so girly? I am also in the midst of setting up a website to promote handmade jewelry and of course to sell all the pieces I've made so far and those done by LF. Still a long way to go but I will get there eventually. :)

Time to create again

Chinese New Year is here again and it has been a truly busy week for me - cooking for relatives, visiting relatives and of course, lots of eating in between. Throw in a couple of sick kids, and my hands are full. Although I like Chinese New Year and all its activities, I felt that I haven't had much time to myself. So when I finally found time to bead again, I was happy. I have been itching to create something with the lovely aventurine beads I got a while back. Aventurine looks a lot like jade but is actually a a translucent quartz spangled with bits of mica or other minerals. It is also known as sunstone. Jade have often been associated with older ladies and although I like jade, I didn't like the designs jade often come in. So when I found these aventurine stones and jade look alike, I was quite excited to see what I can create with them. Yesterday, I decided to use them to make chandelier earrings. I paired the stones with white freshwater pearls to offset the green in the stones.

My Pearl Stash

Finally the pearls I've ordered online have arrived! I've been looking for nice and inexpensive loose pearls to work with and they have not been easy to find. So when I came across a website selling all kinds and sizes of loose pearls, I was all excited! I was rather hesitant to order pearls from an online company that I've never dealt with before but I must say I'm quite pleased with the pearls I've received. I couldn't wait to use them and make something pretty. I finally found some time today to make a pair of pearl earrings. After doing and undoing (I seem to do that alot!) the earrings, voila!
Made from: Freshwater lavender and black pearls, seed beads and swarovski crystals, 14K white gold plated ear hooks.
